I found that the longer I was volunteering the more drawn I was to the senior dogs. It broke my heart to see them come in after losing an owner for a multitude of reasons. Our shelter is absolutely amazing and the volunteers don’t get much better but to see the sadness in the eyes of an older dog after losing their home is absolutely heartbreaking.

In my 9-5 life, I work in the cubicle world that is office life. I enjoy the variety and challenges my day job brings me but my passion is animals.

I always had animals growing up but I really was drawn to getting more involved with homeless animals after we adopted Hailey.

I absolutely love everything about dogs! I love my dogs, I love seeing people out walking their dogs, shopping with their dogs, and just generally enjoying time with their dogs. I have been a volunteer at a local animal shelter for about 12 years. As soon as I started volunteering there I knew it was where I was meant to be. I have met amazing people, learned a ton,  and we adopted two of our dogs from this shelter.

I have served in a variety of roles from dog kennel volunteer to adoption counselor. I love helping people find their furry family member. I get to learn about people and what they are looking for and I get to teach people about the different animals that we have available. I get so much joy out of helping people find the right match.

For a while I ran a senior dog program for another rescue and it was such a special time in my life. I hope to eventually get back to helping senior dogs when life allows. But for now I can focus on the senior pack that we have here at home!

When I am not working or volunteering I enjoy running, yoga, and reading. But my favorite is tuning into a good podcast and taking my dogs for a walk. If you couldn’t tell I could talk for a long time about my dogs and how much I enjoy spending time with them. I just love dogs!
